Announcements for October 7, 2018

Continuing on Monday, October 8th at 6:00pm Pastor Chris will be offering a class entitled “Making Life Better.”  In this class, you will see how God has made your life better by reviewing your past, changing your present and transforming your future.  This course covers the basic truths of the Christian faith and is offered to newcomers and long-time Christians alike.  Come marvel at what God has done for you!  Contact Pastor Chris at 792-9788 for more information.

Tuesday Teen Night is an opportunity for the youth of our congregation to gather together for worship and fellowship. We invite anyone who is currently enrolled in Catechism class or has been confirmed to a special worship service at 6:00pm on Tuesdays. Youth from Faith, Faith Hmong and Iglesia Luterana and their friends are enjoying this gathering—we hope you can make it, too!

This year each Alaskan resident received free money that they neither worked for nor earned. $1,600 was given to us by the state as "our share" of the oil that God put in the earth. How much we have received! And, of course you know that the dollars we received are nothing at all compared to the greater spiritual riches that God pours out on us every day! We receive full forgiveness for every sin. We receive His Holy Spirit that brings us to faith. We receive the Word of God with all of its promises which sustain and strengthen that faith. We haven't done a thing to earn any of those greater gifts. How much we have received!
Considering all of God's rich gifts to us, we can't help but be moved to sincere gratitude that longs to thank God for all of His rich blessings! Having received so much, we're eager to give back to God a portion of all that's He's blessed us with to express our thanks to Him. Could you part with that portion of your PFD to help share the Gospel with more people and make an eternal impact? Consider using some of what our God has so graciously and generously given to support the work of His Kingdom.
All are welcome and invited to join us for choir practice Sundays after church in preparation for the joint Reformation Service on October 28th.  Each session will last 15-20 min in the sanctuary.  Come lend your voice no matter how great or small in the praise of our Lord.

We are starting to prep for our Trunk or Treat event here at Faith! It will take place on Friday, October 26th from 5-7pm. We need parent and friend volunteers to make this event run smoothly!  Would you be willing to have your trunk decorated? Sign up today with a theme! (If you need ideas, Google and Pinterest are great resources!)
Unable to do a trunk but want to help us out? Feel free to donate candy for us to use at the event. We are so excited to have this event for our community! Sign up today: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0a49aca922a6f49-trunk2

Men’s Bible Study will meet at 9:00am on Saturday, October 13th at Barbie’s CafĂ© (6728 Lake Otis Pkwy). By popular demand, we’re taking a tour of the Minor Prophets with a Bible study we’ve called “Sound bytes of the Old Testaments.” We will be discussing the Book of Habakkuk chapter 2.  All are welcome and invited!

Women’s Bible Study will meet at 10:00am Saturday, October 27th in the fellowship hall at Faith to study Chapter 1: Elizabeth from the book The Heart of Jesus.  We hope you will join us!

The Annual Joint Reformation Service will be held at Faith on October 28 at 4:30pm.  Members from our churches in Juneau, Fairbanks, Kenai, Wasilla, Eagle River and Anchorage will be attending.  Come and celebrate the Christian faith which unites us all!

The Annual Alaska Conference of Pastors and Teachers will be held on November 1st and 2nd.  WELS pastors and teachers from across the state will enjoy a conference hosted by Grace Lutheran Church in Kenai.
