Announcements from October 23rd

The Annual Joint Reformation Service will be held at Faith on October 30th at 4:30pm.  Members from our churches in Juneau, Fairbanks, Wasilla, Eagle River and Anchorage will be attending.  Professor Wade Johnston of Wisconsin Lutheran College will deliver the sermon.  Faith Lutheran School choir will be lending their voices in the service. Come and celebrate the true Christian faith which unites us all! 

A potluck will follow immediately after the Reformation Service.  Please bring a dish to share.  The members of Faith usually provide a main entree or a hot dish.  

Trunk or Treat is October 28th 5:00 - 8:00pm. We will have decorated trunks full of candy, a photo booth, cake walk, and more.  Everyone is invited to attend. 

Alaska Conference of Pastors and Teachers will be held on October 31st and November 1st.  WELS pastors and teachers from across the state will be enjoying a conference led by Pastor Wade Johnston and hosted at Peace Lutheran Church.

Announcements from October 16th

Announcing Stewards of Faith! We are all stewards of the blessings our Lord showers upon us and the Stewardship Committee is committed to enriching our collective understanding of stewardship principles.  To that end, we are launching the Stewards of Faith blog.  Stewards of Faith will periodically provide information about stewardship principles, educational and bible study opportunities, and other stewardship topics.  Seize the opportunity and sign up at StewardsofFaith.blogspot.com.  If you have any questions, please speak with Jeff Bromaghin.

Committee Meetings: On Thursday, October 20th at 6:00pm, the boards and committees of our congregation will meet in the fellowship hall.  The Board for Lay Ministry, our church council, meeting follows at 7:15. 

Are you looking for a way to serve our Lord?  Teethsavers, a non-profit Christian organization, is teaming up with the Central Africa Medical Mission to provide toothbrushes for all children seen at the Malawi clinic.   If you would like to help, please bring soft child-sized toothbrushes to Faith and leave them in the collection boxes located in the church and school entry ways by Sunday, October 23^rd.  For more information, please call Joy Bromaghin at 336-6186.

Estate Planning: On Sunday, October 23, Pastor Michael Hatzung will conduct a Christian Estate Planning Seminar during our Bible study hour.  Pastor Hatzung will also be preaching in the service.

CAMM - Toothbrush Drive

Central African Medical Mission (CAMM)

Are you looking for a way to serve our Lord?  Teethsavers, a non-profit Christian organization, is teaming up with the Central Africa Medical Mission to provide toothbrushes and toothpaste for all children seen by the Malawi clinic.  Over 60,000 patients receive medical care at the clinic in Malawi every year.  If you would like to help, please bring soft child-sized toothbrushes to Faith and leave them in the collection boxes located in the church and school entry ways by Sunday, October 23rd.  For more information, please call the office at 563-3499.  

Announcements from October 2nd

Stewardship 

In the month of October, two pastors from our synod will be coming to Faith to lead presentations on the Ministry of Christian Giving.  On Sunday, October 16th, Pastor Phil Spaude will be leading a Bible study on the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod’s mission and ministry.  Pastor Spaude will help us see where our money goes when we give an offering to missions.  On Sunday, October 23, Pastor Michael Hatzung will conduct a Christian Estate Planning Seminar during our Bible study hour.  Both Pastors Spaude and Hatzung will be preaching on those respective Sundays as well. 

Health Fair 

Join us for a Health Fair on Saturday, October 15th, 8am to noon, hosted by Faith Lutheran Church and School. This is a free event for basic health screening, lab work and health care information.  Everyone in the school, church and our community is invited.  

Faith will need volunteers to help with snacks and to help at the event.   This is a great opportunity for outreach in our community.  Please visit the following link to sign up.

Making Life Better

Do you want to make your life better?  God does!  On Tuesdays at 6:30pm, Pastor Chris is offering a class entitled “Making Life Better.”  In this class, you will see how God has made your life better by reviewing your past, changing your present and transforming your future.  If you are interested in this class, talk with Pastor Chris.

Men’s Bible Study

Women's Bible Study 

Have you ever thought about what you want in a friend?  The innate yearning for relationship is not an accident.  God designed us for relationship – with Him and with those He places in our lives.  Our next study will help us see Jesus is our best Friend.  We will discover the many ways He shares our burdens, forgives our wrongdoing, and redeems us forever. So ladies, grab a cup of coffee, a Bible, a pen and sit down with us on October 29th at 10:00am to study Coffee with the Savior.  We are excited to see you then!
