Announcements for October 28, 2018

Our Trunk or Treat event was a huge success! We couldn’t have done it without you.  Thank you to everyone who donated candy, decorated a trunk, volunteered during the event, and worked behind the scenes to make everything run so smoothly.

Continuing on Monday, October 29th at 6:00pm Pastor Chris will be offering a class entitled “Making Life Better.”  In this class, you will see how God has made your life better by reviewing your past, changing your present and transforming your future.  This course covers the basic truths of the Christian faith and is offered to newcomers and long-time Christians alike.  Come marvel at what God has done for you!  Contact Pastor Chris at 792-9788 for more information.

Tuesday Teen Night is an opportunity for the youth of our congregation to gather together for worship and fellowship. We invite anyone who is currently enrolled in Catechism class or has been confirmed to a special worship service at 6:00pm on Tuesdays. Youth from Faith, Faith Hmong and Iglesia Luterana and their friends are enjoying this gathering—we hope you can make it, too!

Join us for Toddler Time on Wednesdays at 10:00am! Toddler Time is an hour of multi-sensory play, stories, and snacks for children ages 0 to 5 years and their parents. Please contact Cara Ewings (792-9388), for more information.

Daylight savings’ time ends next week. We will have our weekly worship service at our regular time but you get an extra hour of sleep. Don’t forget to turn back the clock!

Help bring the Gospel “To the Ends of the Earth!” Next Sunday, we will be joining together with our synod to focus on evangelism. As we saw in the WELS Connection, we will have copies of a movie produced by our Synod, “To the Ends of the Earth,” available for all. The good news of Jesus is indeed for all people—to the very ends of the earth!

The Annual Joint Reformation Service will be held at Faith today at 4:30pm. Members from our churches in Fairbanks, Kenai, Wasilla, Eagle River and Anchorage will be attending. Come and celebrate the Christian faith which unites us all! We are planning to have a potluck after this service. Please bring a main dish to share with your fellow Alaskans!

The Board of Elders cordially invites you to a Faith Family Fellowship dinner in the fellowship hall on November 17, at 6:00 PM, and get to know your brothers and sisters in Christ better. The main course, prime rib, will be provided. We ask attendees to bring sides, salads, or desserts.

This year each Alaskan resident received free money that they neither worked for nor earned. $1,600 was given to us by the state as "our share" of the oil that God put in the earth. How much we have received! And, of course you know that the dollars we received are nothing at all compared to the greater spiritual riches that God pours out on us every day! We receive full forgiveness for every sin. We receive His Holy Spirit that brings us to faith. We receive the Word of God with all of its promises which sustain and strengthen that faith. We haven't done a thing to earn any of those greater gifts. How much we have received!
Considering all of God's rich gifts to us, we can't help but be moved to sincere gratitude that longs to thank God for all of His rich blessings! Having received so much, we're eager to give back to God a portion of all that's He's blessed us with to express our thanks to Him. Could you part with that portion of your PFD to help share the Gospel with more people and make an eternal impact? Consider using some of what our God has so graciously and generously given to support the work of His Kingdom.

Enjoy the Convenience of Electronic Giving. Just a reminder Faith Lutheran Church offers electronic giving as a way to automate your regular weekly offering.  Because your donation is given consistently, you won’t need to play “catch-up” when you are sick, traveling or when other circumstances prevent you from attending services.  As you contemplate future contributions, please consider electronic giving.  Authorization forms and additional information are available in the Fellowship Hall and from the church office.
