Announcements from December 18th

Midweek Advent services continue on Wednesday, December 21st at 7:00pm.  Join us for supper at 6:00pm before the service.  Come as you are from work, school, or wherever to enjoy a delicious meal and then stay for Advent worship!  The idea behind this is to make attending Advent worship easier for all and to provide another opportunity for Christian fellowship.

The children of Faith Lutheran Church will be leading the congregation in singing Away in a Manger during the 6:00pm service on Christmas Eve. We invite any child in grades PK-8 to come up to the front to sing with us if they are in attendance and would like to do so. We will have a brief practice of the song before the service; please have your child at the church on Christmas Eve by 5:30pm to warm-up.

Toddler Time will be taking a break for the holidays.  Join us for a special Christmas Toddler Time on Wednesday, December 21st.  This will be our last Toddler Time this year.  We will resume on Wednesday, January 11th.  All parents with toddlers are welcome and invited!

We thank all who have helped out with Sunday School so far this year.  We still need more teachers for the coming months.  If you are willing and available, please speak with Pastor Chris.

Faith Lutheran School’s Christmas Service will be held on Friday, December 16th at 6:30pm.  The program is “The People of Christmas.”  Come enjoy a service of songs and narration about all the characters involved in Christmas, from the ancient people to Jesus to us.  The service will be held here at Faith in the fellowship hall.

The Christmas season is one of joy - and Christ is the center of that joy!  Join us in the fellowship hall on Saturday, December 17th from 10 am to 12 pm to decorate Christmas cookies and make stained glass candle holders. Then go share your creations with your friends and neighbors! Announcements from December 5th

Midweek Advent services begin this Wednesday, December 7 at 7:00pm.  Join us for soup supper at 6:00pm before the service.  We will have three midweek services this Advent on the 7th, 14th and 21st. 

Teen Night - Friday, December 10th the teens will be meeting at Get Air Trampoline Park at 3:45pm.  They will enjoy all the park has to offer then have some pizza and a devotion.  The cost will be about $15.  If your teen is interested in attending please contact Melissa Mittelstadt at faithlutheranpreschoolak@gmail.com.

 Faith will offer the popular Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class early in the new year, Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm from January 10th through March 7th.  The class covers biblically-based principles of money management, beneficial to all from young people starting out on their own to older couples.  A preview will be held on December 13th at 6:30pm if you are interested.  If you can provide some light snacks for the classes please contact Jeff Bromaghin. Next Sunday, November 27^th, we have a very special day of worship and fellowship planned  as we celebrate Thanksgiving together. We will have an All-Church Worship Service at 10:30am for the English, Spanish and Hmong speaking people of Faith. During the service we will also rededicate our school building, thanking our God for the blessing of this ministry among us. After the worship service, all are welcome and invited to tour the school to see the renovation project that took place this past summer. The open house will be followed by a potluck lunch and a brief congregational meeting. There are a few items requiring action by the congregation, but mostly this will be an informative meeting to keep everyone abreast of the ministry work going on here at Faith. We pray that you are able to join us!

In our Sunday morning Bible study we are training our sights on the devil in a series called “Know Your Enemy.”  Today we put a laser focus on the tactics the tempter uses to try and pry us from the hand of our God.  We will note that his perverted plans are mighty, but our God gives us the strength to overcome and win the victory.  Next week we will take a look at the Arenas of the Adversary and learn where he goes about waging war with us.  Come join us at 9:00 as we grow in God's Word!

Join us for Insect Invasion - November 19^th , 10:00 - noon!  This is a multisensory experience for toddlers up to fourth grade. Join us as a family for art, sensory, interactive items and more at this event! If you have any questions or want to volunteer your time to help – please contact our Preschool Director, Melissa Mittelstadt faithlutheranpreschoolak@gmail.com.  There is a sign up sheet in the fellowship hall.

Financial Peace University - Would you like to know how to manage your money in a God pleasing way?  We plan to offer the popular Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class early in the new year, Tuesday evenings at 6:30 from January 10th through March 7th.  The class covers scripture-based principles of money management, beneficial to all from young people starting out on their own to older couples.  So far, we have 7 non-members enrolled in the class, so it is also providing outreach opportunities in the community!  Class materials cost $99.98, ordered through Faith, so we would welcome sponsors for members that might not be able to afford the class.  Please speak with Pastor Ewings or Jeff Bromaghin to enroll in the class or ask about sponsorship opportunities.

Parent’s Night Out - Friday, November 11th, 6:00 - 9:00pm.  Parent’s can drop their kids off for snacks, games and a movie.  The theme for the evening is:  Drive in Theater.  Kids will be able to decorate their own “car”.  This event is sponsored by Faith Lutheran School Parent Teacher and Friends, PTF.  For more information or to help volunteer, contact Leah Snyder at LeahGSnyder@gmail.com.  You may also sign up in the fellowship hall.

Fall Back - Remember to set your clocks back one hour when you go to sleep on Saturday. Daylight savings ends on Sunday, November 6th at 2:00am.

Next Sunday we will begin a new Bible study that will help us to better understand our enemy, the devil. Not only will we get to know who he is and what his tactics are, but we will also take a close look at what our God has done to give us the victory over our greatest foe. Announcements from October 23rd

The Annual Joint Reformation Service will be held at Faith on October 30th at 4:30pm.  Members from our churches in Juneau, Fairbanks, Wasilla, Eagle River and Anchorage will be attending.  Professor Wade Johnston of Wisconsin Lutheran College will deliver the sermon.  Faith Lutheran School choir will be lending their voices in the service. Come and celebrate the true Christian faith which unites us all! 

A potluck will follow immediately after the Reformation Service.  Please bring a dish to share.  The members of Faith usually provide a main entree or a hot dish.  

Trunk or Treat is October 28th 5:00 - 8:00pm. We will have decorated trunks full of candy, a photo booth, cake walk, and more.  Everyone is invited to attend. 

Alaska Conference of Pastors and Teachers will be held on October 31st and November 1st.  WELS pastors and teachers from across the state will be enjoying a conference led by Pastor Wade Johnston and hosted at Peace Lutheran Church.
