In No Way Do We Want to Rush the Season, but...

We don't want to rush anyone's Christmas and Epiphany celebrations. We just want to invite you to join us...

Putting up the Christmas decorations is such a fun and enjoyable time for many people; however, taking those same decorations down and packing them away can be tedious and maybe even somewhat depressing. We're attempting to infuse joy into the take-down process by doing it together as a fellowship activity, and then enjoying a themed pot luck meal together!

On Saturday January 12 beginning at 11 AM, we'll be gathering to pack up our Christmas decorations around church and the fellowship hall. Once everything is back in storage for another year, we'll put on the sunscreen and enjoy some delicious food that everyone brings, themed around a Lutheran Luau. Well now, if you've ever been to a Hawaiian luau, you might have eaten things like roast pork, fish, and fruits. This website details many foods served at a traditional luau. Here is another site that offers luau recipes. But what is a Lutheran Luau? That will be determined by the foods that you bring!

We're hoping to have a good time, and we hope you will join us! And you will be home well before any important NFL games!

Dear Faith Lutheran Members,

Please consider helping with our "Hanging Hangers" event this Saturday!  This was announced in church yesterday.  Thank you to all that signed up.  However, we need much more to get this job done.  Please consider taking a few hours out of your Saturday for this very important event.  A re-cap of the event is as follows:

Sunday December 15th:

Outreach committee arrive at church by 10:15 AM

Team leaders and team members to be at church by 10:30

Brief safety and coordination discussion @ 10:45

Dispatch to neighborhoods @ 11:00

Complete canvassing @ 1:00

Arrive at church for Pizza @ 1:15

The outreach committee will provide refreshments, door hangers, maps, faith Lutheran business cards, and even some shoe “yacks” for traction.  We will have someone dedicated to support throughout the event.  All you need to do is show up!

If you are interested in helping, please contact me at my email:

Let's all come together and help spread the word!

Thanks,
Matt Klebs

Sanctuary Projector Progress

Here is an update on the projector for the sanctuary:

We have installed the motorized screen and the projector, however there is still cabling to run to hard wire a computer to the projector before it will be operational. We will also be building and installing a valance to cover the screen mechanism brackets and wiring, so the front of the church will look a little unfinished for another week or two.

Following our 11 AM worship service on Sunday, November 18, 2012, please join us for our traditional Thanksgiving pot luck meal. Oct 28, 2012 - Joint Reformation Pot Luck Meal

We have plenty of opportunities for you to participate in our Reformation festival.

Faith will host the Joint Reformation Worship Service, followed by a pot luck meal on Sunday, October 28, 2012. The worship service is scheduled for 4:30 PM followed by the meal. We would love helpers at 10:50 AM following Bible class to set up tables and seats, very quietly, of course. We would love additional helpers following the Hispanic Sunday school around 2:30-ish to assist in covering, setting, and decorating tables. For the meal, local folks can bring hot foods while those traveling greater distances can bring salads, relishes, rolls, or desserts. Finally, we would again appreciate helpers after the meal to pack decorations, clear and clean tables, stack chairs and tables, and wash dishes.

Get to know Miss Wendland and hear about WELS mission work in Africa

Miss Rachel Wendland joined Faith’s school staff this year.  She serves as the language arts teacher for grades 3-8 and coordinates and develops our future pre-school program. Rachel spent much of her early life in Malawi, where her father served as a missionary. Between graduation from Martin Luther College and her arrival to Alaska, she spent three months in Zambia teaching English to the wives and children of pastoral students at the seminary there.  Rachel will be giving a presentation on the mission work in Zambia and her experiences living in Africa
Please join us in the fellowship hall Sunday evening, Sept. 30, at 6pm!

New projector for sanctuary

Greetings members of Faith,
For several years now we have been trying to raise enough money to upgrade the projection equipment in the sanctuary.

We have finally secured the funding to select equipment and get the ball rolling. We have an ad-hoc committee that has met with the pastors and teachers to get their input. After exploring several options, we feel the best option is to replace the existing pull down projector screen with a larger, motorized screen in the same location and purchase a fixed, wireless projector that would be installed permanently at the rafter level.

God-willing this equipment will be purchased in the next month or so and will allow the pastors to more seamlessly bring technology into the services, especially for bi-lingual services where the hymn lyrics or liturgy text could be conveyed in multiple languages.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Channing Lillo,
Vice President
Faith Lutheran Church

How do I subscribe to this blog without having to come here for news and information?

Yes, you can subscribe to these blog posts. “Subscribing” means you won’t have to go anywhere on the internet to find this information, instead it will come to you. Remember the old days when you had a magazine or newspaper subscription? The paper or mag was delivered to you because of your subscription. This blog works the same way. Here’s how you do it:

1. Scroll to the bottom of the blog and find the words Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Click Posts (Atom). (See Figure 1)

2. Your next screen contains a drop down menu for you to select the method of electronic delivery. (See Figure 2)
3. Make your selection and click the Subscribe Now button. That’s it!

I chose to use Live Bookmarks, which placed a new Bookmark (or Favorite if you’re using Internet Explorer as your browser) on my Bookmarks Toolbar. (See Figure 3)
